Our Family Friendly Friday show was Frightfully Funny! With a fast consisting of Daniel, Ian, Emily, Erich and Tim. Our FAM was Andrea, who is a full-time parent who loves embarrassing her child, youth collective member Matthew. She loves hiking and participating in circus sports 23 feet of the ground. She loves Fan Fics, has a doctorate degree, and speaks several languages including Acadian and Hebrew. We started the evening with a FAM Remake of Andrea’s life, “Only Up, Not Down…” As a crime drama, Sci-Fi film and Anime. Tableau brought us hiking in the mountains with a billygoat, a volcanic game of rock, paper, scissors and stargazing with Orion’s Belt. Lines from a Cup assured us that the cookie baker was healthy but he called to say he forgot. We played Dating Game next, and Erich had to guess that his choices were Aladdin, a toothbrush and a hot air balloon.

Sing It! Was a rousing musical with inspired and ingenious musical numbers such as “You Better Light the Fire”, “You can do it if you try or else” and “I don’t want to come near you.” Quick Scenes entertained with prepositions, illiterate archeologists and Alaskan igloos in Venice.   Good, Bad and Ugly brought us advice on shoe shopping, wrestling and befriending parrots. Our final game was Debate Club, where we argued about empowerment in your 20’s but it is character that counts and you should do more than 2 characters in improv when you are 46.

It is six o’clock on a gorgeous early summer evening, and our Youth Collective had a great show! On cast were Gussy, Abby, Aidan, Shea and Matthew. Our FAM was Patrick who likes pancakes and pizza and would save the world with a time machine and a laser gun. Maybe he wants to be a spy when he grows up, or a video game designer.

We started the show with a round of chainsaw, turning a cowgirl in space with bubbles into a farmer or a cow or a dairy farmer in space with bubbles. Busta Rap rhymed cooks, spy, butter and machine. We finished the show with a debate club about the movements of Mario in the game world, spinning in circles for exercise, thinking and popping wheelies at a derby for a trophy.

Our 9pm Late Night Comedy Show at the Warwick Center for the Arts had a great cast with Krissy, Audrey, Josh, David, Ian and Amy. Our FAM was Rose, who is celebrating her 18th birthday. If she could give Josh a birthday gift, it would be a fancy guitar. If Josh gave her a gift, she would want a cow that hugs. She is going skydiving on Sunday and works at Target, where she spends all of her money. We began the evening with a FAM remake of Rose’s trip to Croatia, which was utterly disturbing in every way possible. Tableau brought us to Target, a shoe store, a moonlit drive with werewolves, an accountant’s desk, and a pumpkin patch. Sing It went skydiving, where we had musical numbers about jumping, charging camera batteries and painted backpacks, the expense of clown college, and poor landings. Interrogation Lineup had our culprits confess to cow tipping in a music store with cookie monster. Meanwhile, scratch and sniff stickers and clothing were not the best idea but the mannequins were live and HR was blind. We played Busta Rap next, and then The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. We wrapped up the evening with a song for our FAM Rose!

Our 7pm Family Friendly Improv show at The Warwick Center for the Arts had Ian, David, Amy, Audrey, Krissy and Josh on cast, and our FAM was Linda who is the principal of a school for special education. Her favorite lunch to bring in is chicken and broccoli and fruits and veggies but really just coffee. If she could train a polar bear to do anything, it would be herding her pet cats. Our first game was FAM Revolver, with scenes inspired by our FAM, titled “Fetch the Cat”, “Arctic Fox”, “Motorcycle” and “Truly Terrified”. The Siamese Cat required special precautions, vegan fur was stunning to behold, but vegan cars not so much. Not to mention madcap minuscule motors and a captivating coffee crisis. Sports Commentator featured the grass cutting Olympiad. Power mowers were banned, the cows cut the grass but as long as the checks cleared they could win! Last Line, First Line highlighted coworkers, blender, and veggies/fruits. Brilliant Inventions could ship out by the millions! Chainsaw turned a mermaid  in the Chinese White House with Starbuck’s Coffee into a dancer on the set of the movie Ghost with an egg timer. Short Cutz proved that koalas actually do make good friends, and the cat’s meow was the Lion King at the potato farm in Poland. Greatest Hits brought a musical flair with Songs of the Truly Terrifying, like the 50’s rock classic…the Broccoli That Ate Cincinnati. Freeze Tag was energetic and exciting with blue water, zero miles, jumping bowling ball contamination, glowing security and innovative exercises in technology. We ended with a song for our FAM Linda!

It was a beautiful Friday night at the Warwick Center for the Arts for our Youth Collective show featuring Jeffrey, Matthew and Abby. Our FAM was Hannah, who loves Gregg’s Coconut Raspberry Cake and would bring a sword and a slice of pizza on a mission to save the world. Sit, Stand and Lie Down was our first game, followed by Timmy in the well. Jeffrey had to guess that Jack (of beanstalk fame) fell asleep in the mud at the bank. Slogans was our next game, with catchy slogans for such things as meteorologists and coconut raspberry cake. Revolver involved scenes about penguins, chupacabra and lemon meringue pie. We ended the show with a round of Busta Wrap!

It’s 9pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts, and on cast were Erich, Emily, Alan, Amy, Daniel and Audrey. Our FAM was Danielle, who teaches and is working on an English Ph.D. in Renaissance Drama, and wants to take a Shakespearean acting class. Her favorite play right now is Richard II and she wants to visit Disney again to ride Splash Mountain. We started the night off with a FAM revolver. The driveway became a sandwich, a wedding disaster made the bride dissolve into a soup of tears, the weapons were poorly wielded and the beverages were consumed. Sports Commentator brought us to the Hypnosis Olympic Championship. Clocks on strings and wasps made Dave obey and believe his pants were on fire.

Short Cutz involved aquatic mammals who made horrid puns while attempting to pass a college class in a poorly executed Italian accent. Good Cop/Bad Cop made Emily had to guess that she ordered Chinese food made from dolphins at Caesar’s Palace with Milli Vanilli. Lines from a Cup was next. Let’s take a cab to travel by moose since we fell and we cannot get up, but we prefer elephants instead. Freeze Tag entertained with Clark Kent and Superman, a bullseye, a magic 8 ball of marriage, and a dead redshirt. We wrapped up with a Do-Run!

Birthday Party, Featured Audience Members, Show Recap No Comments »

Our 7pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts and we had a great show! On cast were Erich, Audrey, Emily, Daniel, Amy and Alan. Our FAM was Zachary who is celebrating his 12th birthday. He loves math, and if he had any superpower he would be super fast. His favorite animal would be a zebra platypus hybrid. We began the game with a FAMily reunion. The birthday party was awesome but there was no zoo. There was chocolate cake, which dad thought was excessive, and the science teacher crashed the bash!

Sit, Stand and Lie Down brought us to a fishing boat in Maine. The fish were flying, the moon was a sight to behold, and the deck was slick. Centerpiece had our volunteers and cast rotating through scenes inspired by the words lakehouse, wood, Robin Hood and zebras. Friar Tuck was not impressed by the size of Little John until he got some perspective, the lions found the hiding zebra, the man with the chainsaw was not wearing a mask, and the woodpeckers were bored so they got helmets for their headache. For Timmy In the Well, Amy had to guess that Beyonce got hit by a ham in the freezer.

Say it Again brought us to Florida, where Grandma and Grandpa brought Missy to Sea World but she wanted to go to Arkansas. The basketballs on the walker were why grandpa was dribbling. Slogans introduced brilliant advertising for Oreos, cabbage, socks, sand and sardines. Fortunately/Unfortunately was next! Zachary helped his teacher with math during science class. We capped it off with a Busta Rap!

It’s 6pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts, and our  May/June Youth Collective had an excellent second show! On cast were Aidan, Matthew, Jeffrey, Abby, and Shae. Our FAM was Karen, who wants to visit Australia and loves the color orange. If she was an animal she would be a sloth so she could sleep.

We started the game with a “Serious Scene”. We left the water in the car in Australia after driving into a cactus because we did not follow the signs but the lines. Press Conference had Aidan having to guess that she was Rhianna and she has created and English Muffin that makes people fly. Famous Last Words covered the last words of tacos, astronauts, money and sloths. Revolver had scenes about cooking Ramen, stealing cars, breakfast with Karen or not Karen, and sneaker sticker shopping. Sing it featured apologetic songs, songs about not being a dad to a sloth while at the zoo.

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so that means that BYOI is back in the Izzy Room at Hasbro Children’s Hospital with Jonathan, Audrey, David and our FAM, Natasha. Natasha love unicorns, Disneyworld, and talking to people.

Our first game of the night was Movie Critics, which found Audrey and David acting out “Natasha’s Emoji Spin Off”, we found that David is a natural Meh emoji and Princess Emoji Audrey doesn’t do well in space…the helmet messes up her hair. What Are You Doing found us doing yard work, petting a variety of animals, and lots of snazzy dance moves. Timmy in the Well involved Micky Mouse, losing his ears, on a roller coaster! Questions was up next, and we found out that Johnson is some kind of clown. David and Jonathan showed us their great board carrying skills during Action figures…as neither of them could find the water to actually surf! Our final game of the night was Debate Club, and Natasha and all of our friends in the Izzy Room joined us in a wonderful debate about food and being laugh-tose intolerant!

Then we had some more surprise guests join us as we were leaving, so David, Jonathan, and Audrey had an encore game and played Spelling Bee where we learned about cats, and saying good morning in other languages!

It was a great night full of much-needed laughter for everyone.

BYOI – The Water Polo Wave

Featured Audience Members, Show Recap No Comments »

Our FAM was Kelly! She likes improv, going to the gym alone to enjoy the peace and quiet. Swim aerobics are fun, but being around the lady who pawns her kids off on everyone is not. FAMily Reunion had Kelly coming in from gardening and dealing with her family. Free food for all of them!

Sit, Stand, and…Climb the Ladder/Wave Your Arms In Front Of You/Act Like a Squirrel started off the show! David and Emily were joined by audience member Jim. The home gym wasn’t dusted properly, but it was easy for working out! Say It Again had Tim, Ian and audience member Paul as cheerleaders getting ready to cheer for water polo. They were great at standing there and insulting the team! Excuses, Excuses was next, where Emily was late for work. She overslept, waited on a late trainer at the gym, and presided over a jaguar’s funeral.

Last Line, First Line had heavy lifting. Look at these waters! We’ll go to Cleveland and die there. Because I Said So was next, where we found out why people use protection, why there are different languages, and why there are green people. Because clowns! Fortunately/Unfortunately followed this, where Pinocchio was adopted by an oak tree and lifted off the ground by dental floss pieces. The night ended with Do Run, as the cast recapped the show in song.
