FAM2 013015Welcome back to the second half of Friday night at the Wawick Museum of Art! For this show, Josh, Daniel, James, Alex L and Amy were once again on stage making everyone laugh. The late night show’s FAM was Frank, who is a busy guy! He works in Connecticut and is going to school to be a physical therapy assistant. Frank came to BYOI with “that girl” Brenda, and fun fact: he does close up magic on the side! For FAM Highlander, Amy, Alex L, James and Josh had a snowball fight without snowballs and someone played the flute. Ultimately James had to perform the scene all 4 times.

Serious Scene was not very serious with lots of stuff pulled out of unmentionable places. Questions asked what’s poutine and why was a grizzly bear so angry? Press Conference was next, with Amy playing Vladimir Putin. Alex L, James and Daniel played the press corps helping Putin explain that he was behind Deflategate. This was followed by Two Headed Monster, where Daniel and Josh were in a scene with James. We found out James’ mom is ugly hot in Alabama and a platypus is a horse with a duck inside it.

Audience members Brenda and Elize decided to be brave and jump up for Spelling Bee! Everyone did a great job with words like ice cream, kumquat and circumnavigation. The definitions were a different story though! In What Are You Doing, the cast did crazy things like dressing naked mole rats, being a flash mob of one and finding out thta Fiji is in bottled water only and not on a map. The night ended with Curtain Call, with the cast singing about a variety of topics, like Uber drivers, the possibility of Amy being a psycho killer and our FAM Frank!

FAM1 013014Welcome to another night of family friendly fun with BYOI at the Warwick Museum of Art! Tonight we had Amy, Alex L, Josh, Daniel and James on stage. The FAM was Emily, who is an 11th grader from Woonsocket. She loves music and improv, as well as Peanut, her socialable but shy pet rat. Emily used to play softball and her mom was at the show rooting her on. In FAM Greatest Hits, Alex and Emily came up with songs for the rest of the guys to sing about Emily’s life. Highlights included the Mumford and Sons hit song “I’m An Alto” and a song about cuddly ravioli.

Freeze Tag started off the night with Emily joining the cast on stage. Vinny played the recorder like an angel and Ron Weasley’s wand was acutally a snake in rigor mortis. In Lines From a Cup, Amy, Josh and Alex L used the western method to say, “Look mom, I’m a bird” and peanut butter was everywhere.  Excuses, Excuses featured Amy, James and audience member Danielle helping Daniel out. He was stuck in traffic, then a cook tried to escape from his cage and he was abducted by rats. Six Pack was next with audience members Rob and Emily rounding out the pairs. A fish was allergic to water and gravity was wonderful.

Debate Club had the cast as well as audience members John, Rob and Emily. We learned that gaming is a sport amongst nerds, D&D is boring because of math and the barrel roll is from Donkey Kong, not Star Fox like the young ones think. The Quickest Minute featured Josh, Alex L and Rob chilling out at a volcano with pizza, until their dinner and a show turned into explosions and ashy pizza. The show ended with Do Run, where the cast sang about Emily.

Our cast tonight included James, Alex L., Josh, Candice, Ian, and Alex W. and our Featured Audience Member was Dawn. She’s an office manager who likes motorcycles, Seychelles, and the color red. Our first game of the night was Typewriter, where we was a story all about Seychelles which featured Bob who just wanted to be a merman. Highlander was up next, which featured a story all about a dogsledding medicine adventure. Our next game was Pillars, where we learned that Egypt was colonized by France and that Canadians aren’t afraid of spiders – because they have moose.

This was followed by Pavlovian Response, where Alex had to do the Macarena whenever someone said “what”, James had to ask “Are we there yet?” when someone had their palm up, and Candice had to jump whenever someone mentioned a trip. Troubadours was up next, which featured a story all about Bob the fireman. Then we played Slogans, where our cast had to come up with slogans for such things as woodland creatures, Fox News, and Liam Neeson. This was followed by Try That On For Size, where we saw such actions as flexing at the beach, waking up a taller brother, and Richard Simmons’ newest workout. Our last game of the night was Busta Rap, where our cast had to rhyme such words as cook, nude, and stuff.

It’20150123_200318s 7:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means BYOI’s Family Friendly show! Tonight our cast was James, Alex L., Josh, Candice, Ian, and Alex W. and our Featured Audience Member was Ethan. He’s a seventh-grader who likes gym, Australia, and snorkeling. Our first game of the night was Do Run where we learned that “vision” is hard to rhyme, and so is “karma”. Then we played Fortunately/Unfortunately where we saw Mulan on the Titanic, Mushu get eaten by a penguin, and a lying boat salesman. Centerpiece was up next, featuring snorkeling in the fjords of Norway and bugs in salads.

This was followed by Everything Emporium, where shop owner Candice had to help her customers find a DVD that grants laser vision, Chex Mix that mows your lawn, and cleats that dispense apple juice. Say it Again was next, and don’t mess with Bob because he does mean things to sponges. Then we played Busta Rap, where our cast had to rhyme such words as mute, string, and Gary. This was followed by Tableau which featured pictures at a middle school, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Super bowl. Our last game of the night was Debate Club, which was supposed to be all about Soccer, but in which Alex became confused.

FAM2 011615Welcome back to our late night BYOI show at the Warwick Museum of Art! We once again had Cyn, Josh, Daniel, James, Ian and Alex W on stage making everyone laugh. Our FAM for this show was Neal, who is a computer programmer by day but not Benedict Cumberbatch by night. Neal likes reading, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the color red. He had a new answer to the Disney Princess question, and said being Elsa would be cool because her ice power could be used to make snow cones! Neal is awesome, but I may be biased. In FAM Sing It, Elsa froze Venice because she wanted to see the frozen canals. Unfortunately, gondola drivers were stuck in the ice so everyone needed to find new jobs and water to drink. Alex was the star of the game when he came up with the brilliant idea to sell ice skates!

After a quick warmup, the show was off to a great start with Helping Hands. Josh and audience member David had some help from their friends Cyn and Ian as they were astronauts trying to repair a space shuttle. In Meanwhile, hair was lost and we learned you have to start the day with tea before moving on to brandy. This was followed by Party Quirks, where Alex had Daniel, Ian and audience member Jessica over to celebrate Bill Clinton’s birthday. His friends were Orlando, Mozart and Mac and Cheese, which seems like a fun party!

In Six Pack, the box that not’s yours anymore was your ex’s box and a femmebot turned the tables on her programmer. David and FAM Neal were brave and joined the cast on stage for Rope, where the top of the box was unreachable. Trolley Stop was next, with FAM Neal once again joining in. We met duchesses, falcons, gumshoe detectives and zombies. The final game of the night was Spelling Bee, with the addition of David on stage. The group spelled and taught us about words like red, definitely and onomatopoeia…or at least they tried to spell them!

FAM1 011615Friday night means it’s BYOI night at the Warwick Museum of Art! The family friendly show was a bunch of fun with Cyn, James, Alex W, Ian, Josh and Daniel. It was a very special night, because it was our FAM Sara’s 18th birthday! Sara just graduated early from school and loves art. Her favorite artist is her mom, which resulted in lots of “awwwww”s from the audience. Sara thinks it would be great to be able to have The Force as a superpower, and came to the show with her parents and 2 sisters. We won’t say who her favorite is. In FAM Day In the Life, Sara’s mom did interpretive yoga to explain breakfast. Smiegel showed up at school to play volleyball but stole it because it was precious and we wondered if bread should go in the toaster slot or the outlet.

Follow That Action started off the games with Chewbacca joining the cantina band. Someone liked everyone and made sure they knew it, and an audience member played Princess Leia applying for a job. Catch Phrase had Cyn and Josh at the art museum with audience member Kate. Cyn was very possessive and worried about what would be on the test while Kate wanted everyone to roll over. The Dating Game was next, with Ian looking for love. His choices were Alex W as the Eiffel Tower, Daniel as a forlorn Mickey Mouse and audience member Katie as a pair of old shoes.

In Revolver, James and Cyn did scenes with two brave audience members. There may have been rampant cheating on tests in school but no one was talking, socks were washed wrong and a garbageman had his job all wrong. Because I Said So followed that, with cast and 3 audience members helping explain why water is wet and who let the dogs out to Cyn. Sports Commentator had Daniel and audience member Andrew as announcers at the International Dishwashing Finals live from North Korea. Josh and audience member Hannah played the competitors, Clean Jong Un and Hannah the Fantana. Hannah ate the dishes, while Josh just sat there and still won because he could. Curtain Call ended the show, with the cast singing about Monet, science and our FAM Sara. Happy birthday Sara!!!

20150109_220647It’s 9:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means BYOI! Tonight we had Daniel, Cyn, James, Amy, Alex L., and Josh, and our Featured Audience Member was Keith (taking the bullet for daughter Abigail). He’s a town planner who likes guitar, blue, books, and tacos. Our first game of the night was Say It Again which was all about feeding the cat where we found out that you really shouldn’t buy Hooked on Phonics as a scratching post if you don’t want your cat to learn how to talk. This was followed by Growing & Shrinking which featured – among many other scenes – a game of town planner Monopoly. Up next was Lines From a Cup where we learned that Jane Goodall was a trap and that God is very specific.

Then we played Newborn where Stonehenge and Sacajawea had a child and named it Shovel Kiwi (these celebrity names just keep getting weirder and weirder, don’t they?). Sing It was up next which turned out to be all about a miraculous grill. This was followed by Quick Scenes where we heard such lines as “Does this butt make my head look small?” and “I thought Armageddon would be bigger.” Then we played Quickest Minute which featured a scene about sending a toaster into space. Our last game of the night (awwwwww!) was Story, Story, Die which was about the search for the Majestical Taco where we learned a new song – “Hey Jalapeño, Hey Let’s Go!”

OwlIt’s 7:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means it’s time for BYOI’s first family-friendly show of 2015! Woot! Tonight our cast was Daniel, Cyn, James, Amy, Alex L, and David. Our Featured Audience Member was Richard who is a high school student who likes English, X-Box 360, and the Hobbit. We could not show his picture for personal reasons, so here is a picture of his school mascot, an owl. Our first game of the night was Centerpiece where we explored such ideas as the weather in the room, feathery bats, and pre-dwarf syndrome. Our next game was Action Figures and it turned out that Daniel was REALLY attached to his scooter. This was followed by Alphabet which was about a Chuck Norris centaur movie that featured a valley boy.

Chainsaw was next, and we watched as a garbage man became a bridge troll, Australia turned into the inside of a video game, and a paintball gun became a ball of chi energy. Up next was Remake which featured a scene with “Ahnold” building a snowman out of recycled plastic. Then we played Back In My Day with such topics as owls, snow, and Morgan Freeman. Sit, Stand, Lie Down was next which featured SO MUCH KICK! Finally, we played Busta Rap and we had to rhyme such words as hot, red, toys, tin and feet.
