Birthday Party, Featured Audience Members, Private Show, Show Recap No Comments »

20150228_142600It just wouldn’t be a birthday party without BYOI… and today at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, it was a PARTY!!! We were there to celebrate Fugi’s(Mike) 40th Birthday with Josh, James, Candice and Myself! Fugi has been in many bands, loves the movie Caddy Shack and wants an Elephant… which his Mom know why?

So we begin with a song all about Fugi and why he has a really big… sock. Next up in Two Headed Monster, we learn that his daughter Maddie does not like shoveling snow and has some interesting interests. Did you know it is illegal to brush your teeth with coffee in Mike’s back pocket with Samuel Adams? Well because of Good Cop/Bad Cop, we do!  We saw the 3 second version of Caddy Shack done by people who may, or may not have ever seen it in The Quickest Minute. Catch Phrase let us know we were all pregnant and Action Figures showed Russians how not to lay cable… wonder if those scenes were related? We offended almost all types of people in Try That On for Size and then finished off with Curtain Call and sang home our FAM Fugi!

Thanks for having us folks!

FAM2 022715We’re back for the last show of the night at the Warwick Museum of Art, again with David, Ian, Amy, James, Alex W and Daniel. The late night show’s FAM was Kim, who is an interior designer and loves running, reading and going out for seafood. He’s the proud owner of an annoying dog and loving cat, and made up a cool animal called the groundfawn during the interview.

In FAM Greatest Hits, Alex and Kim talked about the hit songs “Rock Outside,” “Bad Takes Everywhere” and “Rocky and the Smokey Bar” so the rest of the cast could sing for us. After the interesting songs, we needed advice, so it was time for the Good, the Bad & the Ugly. Audience members Kate and Keith joined Ian as the advice givers, and told what to do when Cinderella needs help or how to make spring happen now. In Short Cutz, the elves were on strike representing the Easter Bunny, white eggs were hidden in the snow and we learned about the circle of life.

Alex was late to work in Excuses, Excuses. Thankfully, David bought his reasons of washing his cat, losing his jumper cables at the pyramids and leaving his DNA on Mars. In Centerpiece, James was in the middle for scenes about a monster from under the bed following a kid around until adulthood, running to Fiji and tax forms on “Sesame Street.”

Blank Walks Into a Bar was next, with the cast and audience member Neal coming up with groaners about when a cork, Gary Busy and firmen walk into a bar. This was followed by Growing and Shrinking Machine, where Daniel wasn’t supposed to press the enter key, a pig didn’t even oink and groundfawn sushi was invented. The night ended with Story, Story, Die, while the cast was joined by Kim and Neal to narrate “The Legend of the Groundfawn” which left Alex as the last one standing!

FAM1 022715What better way to end a snowy month than to join us at the Warwick Museum of Art? Alex W, Daniel, Amy, David, James and Ian were great on stage all night! The family friendly show’s FAM was Trish, who is a physical trainer and acrobatic dance coach. Being an acrobatic dance coach sounds like a blast! Trish came to the show with her husband and 2 of her daughters, is a fan of nice looking men on TV, and says The Dress is white and gold! She’s a very smart lady! In FAM Pillar, James and Alex did interpretive dance as they tried to be a snake and a chair and Daniel wanted to be a real board.

Action Figures featured Daniel and David moved around hilariously by Alex and James. They were police officers aiming in the wrong direction and having to share a small horse to get around. In Remake, the cast redid “The Princess Bride” with the princess worried about what color her dress would be while she walked down the aisle. They followed it with a western version faturing a 3 legged horse, then the movie was set in outer space with genetically modified pony-free pizza. Finally, director James decided they needed to redo everything as a musical–but “Die Hard” style–and it was great!

In New Born, James–I mean, Dracula–and Daniel the competitive knitter had a child. Congratulations on the birth of the Grand Canyon! Typwriter was next, with Daniel and audience member Rob writing a story about a chimpanzebra named Dracula, while the cast and audience member Reagyn acted it out. The chimpanzebra was trying to prepare for a swimming competition but hair kept getting in the pool since he wouldn’t wear a swimming cap.

Slogans had the cast plus audience member Chris telling us about the new slogans for fruitcake, time machines, physical trainers, and math (It’s acute!). In Sit, Stand and Lie Down, David, Amy and Rob were spiders trying to make a web. Finally, Spelling Bee ended the show. The cast, along with audience members Lisa, Rose, Reagyn and Rob, tried and sometimes succeeded in spelling words like dog, flip, textile and Tazmania.

20150227_184605It’s Friday night and this party is getting started with our Youth Collective! It’s Dylan, Rose, Emily, Ally & Rob with our FAM Doug! Doug runs a daddy daycare, wants to be in 88° Aruba year round and wishes everyone’s license plate was their cell phone number. A Do Run by the gang taught us that Doug hates Mimes but loves honey buns!

First up is What Are You Doing where we learned how not to play Cribbage. Then in in Marriage Counselor Emily is allergic to their cat, Rose cannot stop sucking her thumb and together they perform too many exorcisms. And on to Rope where papers don’t taste that good. In Questions we wondered… “Why don’t you think?” and “Why did I bring you into this world?” And finally we see Story, Story, Die and heard about how Duck Tape is an expensive date and always wants the fettuccine alfredo.

It20150220_220201‘s 9:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means it’s time for BYOI! Tonight our cast consisted of Josh, Ian, James, Amy, and Daniel and our Featured Audience Member was Julie. She’s a teacher who loves math, metal detecting. books, and Italy.  Our first game of the night was Do Run where we sang all about Julie. This was followed by Tableaux which featured scenes about Vegas, chickens, coffee, and Chanukah. Say It Again was next where we learned that you train orphans to know everything they need from MarioKart. Then we played Everything Emporium where our unusual customers needed a hoe that tastes of clementines, sushi that gives you telepathy, and a liger that could be used as a snow shovel.

Catch Phrase came next, where one person could only say “One more chance” and “Is this bad?” and the other could only say “Oops” and “Can you repeat that?” This was followed by Because I Said So, which posed the burning question “What’s so bad about Cranston?” Fortunately/Unfortunately was next where we learned that they have beautiful bedspreads at the ACI. Our last game of the night was Sing It! which was all about seriously adventurous water.

It’s 7:00 at the Warwick M20150220_200427useum of Art and that means it’s time for BYOI’s family-friendly show! Tonight our cast consisted of Josh, Ian, James, Amy, Daniel, and David and our Featured Audience Member was Cindy. She’s an accounting professor at URI who likes books, Paris, and a cross between a jaguar and a bear. Our first game of the night was Fam Pack where we learned that “bear” and “beer” are not the same thing. This was followed by What Are You Doing? where we saw such activities as doing teddy bear taxes, pretending to be French, riding a unicorn, and fleeing hyenas. Questions was up next, which posed such mind-altering questions as “When did robbing banks become illegal?” and “Are cops allowed to rob robbers?” Then we played Marriage Counselor where one was afraid to go to school, the other believes she’s a unicorn, and between them they have a house made of macaroni & cheese.

Two-Headed Monster was up next, where we learned all about skateboard training wheels and the important facts of safety – or not. This was followed by Rope which posed the question “Can I have a new pet cow?” Next was Serious Scene, which was a scene in the URI accounting department, where we learned that division is in fact part of an accountant’s duties. Our last game of the night was Sotry, Story, Die which was a beautiful story about two companions Charlie & Hubby who were BFFs after knowing each other for just one day.

20150220_183811It’s 6:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means it’s time for BYOI’s Youth Collective show! Tonight our cast was Dylan, Rose, Rachel, Emily, and Allie and our Featured Audience Member was Maria. She works in a hospital doing research, likes the Grand Canyon, and would invent a time machine if she could. Our first game of the night was Day In The Life where we learned many fascinating things about donkeys – not the least of which is the fact that a donkey is just a pony with long ears. Then we played Highlander, which took place a clean energy rally, where a cell was made the mascot even thought it wasn’t green. Madame Zelda was up next, where Rose learned that her future consisted of falling asleep, getting a sunburn, and then flying to the moon!

We played Quick scenes next, with such fun topics as “we don’t have hoverboards yet”, “sand shouldn’t be at the beach”, and “shoeless ice skating”. This was followed by Pillars which featured a scene at the Grand Canyon, snow, and a surly babysitter. Our last game of the night was Sing It where people were queuing up to see the Fascinating Child.

BYOI – Hotel Manager Of The Year

Featured Audience Members, Show Recap No Comments »

FAM3 021315It’s time for Friday the 13th part 3 at the Warwick Museum of Art! We still had Amy, James, Alex L and Daniel on hand for the show. The FAM was Alex, who is a hotel manager. He loves the snooze button (Alex is a very smart man) and likes to watch a few episodes of “Friends” before hitting the gym. He told us a fun story of his favorite barista, who adds hazelnut to all of his orders, even though he never asks for it. Alex came to the show with his friend Daniel, who also had a fun story for us. In FAM Day In The Life, Hazelnut Girl brought a hazelnut latte to Alex at home since he was late and a paranoid customer couldn’t check into the hotel because they were afraid to give their personal information. Those dastardly key cards know everything about you!

Sports Commentator started off the night with Alex and Amy hosting the Hotel Manager Of The Year Competition, featuring James and Daniel. Humidity was used to inflate hotel sales figures, they twerked and used the internet inappropriately. In Revolver, audience members Beth and Tom joined Alex and James in scenes about swimming in a 5 foot deep puddle and being bit by furniture. The Dating Game was next, with Daniel, James and audience member John vying for Amy’s affection. They played someone obsessed with the Jersey Shore, Florence Nightingale and a flashlight.

Alphabet was fun with audience member Connor joining in. Soil was the preferred method for gardening and we’re not sure how religion entered into the equation. Back In My Day had the cast and Beth explaining what was there before Japan, vampires, Al Pacino and call centers. Follow That Action had a hotel demanding DNA to replace lost room keys, a turpiglet and Miranda the talking pig. Finally, there could only be one left in Highlander! Our FAM Alex was brave enough to play the game, which took place in the best bathroom ever. He almost made it to the end, but alas, Daniel ended up winning and finishing the game.

FAM2 021315Welcome to part 2 of our Friday the 13th shows at the Warwick Museum of Art! This time we had Daniel, Amy, Alex L, James and Cyn on stage. The show’s FAM was Kylie, who is in the sixth grade and loves her dog, Bruin. She came to see us with her softball team! For FAM Movie Critics, James and Kylie reviewed “Kylie: Adventure Through Space, Time and the Bahamas!” In the film, Kylie missed her dog while on vacation and biked for electricity while all TV channels were about coconuts. A komodo dragon found a time machine that brought Kylie to the Titanic and later, Pompeii, because lava is better than an iceburg.

Highlander featured a soccer team bringing a bat on the field to suck out the blood of the other team so they’d go to sleep before turning into bats. Cyn, Amy and James were all voted off so Daniel had to perform alone the fourth time around. In Pillars, audience members Victoria and Samantha helped out when the cast was at a loss for words. Snowmen didn’t like basketball and their carrot noses tasted sweet, while ice cream sodas were used to fly. Madame Zelda was next with Daniel explaining to Amy that she was going to slip on ice, go to Jamaica and take a painting class taught by Katy Perry. Thankfully he had Cyn, Alex and Parker as his trusty spirits to guide him. The Troubadours had Alex and Daniel singing so the cast and audience member Mike knew what to act out. They ended up on a turbulent plane during vacation! Everyone walked on parchment and while the chicken parm was good, it was distressing that there was no Coke Zero.

Quick Scenes had the cast joined by audience members Ainsley, Samantha and Parker. Thick oatmeal was just bark and a super smart kindergartener knew physics. This was followed by Try That On For Size, with audience members Bryanna, Parker and Ainsley playing along. They swam through ice cream, played “The Legend Of Zelda” with one hand and squished cheeks together. The final game of the show was Sing It with Kylie on the bell. The dog ate the rule book, the kick ball was kicked real good and we were taught to not lick the yellow snow.

FAM1 021315Happy Friday the 13th from BYOI! We had a great night for the Youth Collaborative show at the Warwick Museum of Art with Rose, Rachel, Dylan, Rob, Emily and Ally! The show’s FAM was Marnie, who is a hairdresser and loves watching her daughter’s softball team. She came to see us with the softball team, and they were a bunch of fun! In FAM Growing and Shrinking Machine, there were no lions in Africa, the rent was paid of every slowly and everyone claimed their hat.

Helping Hands had Rachel and Dylan as the arms for Emily and Rob, where a business was ruined before the prom. In Good Cop, Bad Cop, Ally and Rob got Rose to confess that she stole a painting in Las Vegas with Gandhi. We learned about the Famous Last Words of a hairdresser, dog and the color black before jumping into Meanwhile, where Chick-Fil-A had live chickens and the bank went bankrupt. Finally, we had Debate Club where our teens started debating if breakfast is good for you and if the old days really were that great.
