It’s 9:00 at t20150424_222126he Warwick Museum of Art and that means time for BYOI! Tonight our cast featured Amy, David, Candice, Cyn, Daniel, and Alex L. and our Featured Audience Member was Lara. She’s a chef who also works at a publishing company who likes New Zealand, biking, and the color orange. Our first game of the night was FAM Centerpiece which featured scenes about publishing chaos, dating goulash, and cooking Germans. But what made tonight so memorable for everyone involved, mostly for our FAM Lara, was the fact that David proposed to her on-stage during the game! Congratulations David and Lara! We all wish you only the very best!

How do you follow that? Well, we did so by playing Follow That Action! In it, we learned that a sous chef just makes it up as he goes along. Our next game was Alphabet, which featured a bike-riding knife fight. After that, we played our Game of the Month – Three Point Turn. In it we saw one man’s dream about his mother being the root of all his problems become horrifyingly real when mom disapproved of all costumes. Next up was Remake, where we learned that villains are terrible people and saw guerilla filmmaking with actual gorillas.

This was followed by Quick Scenes, which featured some – you guessed it! – quick scenes about Iceland, Pizza, and horseback riding. Sit, Stand, Lie Down was next which took place during a bachelor party where some very poor choices were made. Our last game of the night was Spelling Bee where our cast and volunteers had to spell such words as German, Publishing, and New Zealand.

It’20150424_201901s 7:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means it’s time for BYOI’s family friendly show! Tonight our cast featured Amy, David, Candice, Cyn, Daniel, and Alex L. and our Featured Audience Member was Rachael. She works in a sausage-making plant and likes Hawaii and dogs and monkeys. Our first game of the night was FAM Pillar, where we learned all about the dreaded RMRMRMRMR and that you shouldn’t go to Chicago for your honeymoon, even though it does kind of sound like Iowa. Next up was Action Figures, where we learned that sausage made form brains makes you want to dance. This was followed by Movie Critics which was all about “George & Lucy go to Hawaii” – that new hit film featuring a very heavy lei, Lucas the dog-monkey, and selling your old gods on eBay.

Our next game was our game of the month, Three Point Turn. In it, we saw a team of golf caddies avoiding alligators that bite golfers become Willy Wonka’s personal Oompa-Loompa selectors. This was followed by Centerpiece, where we saw a hitchhiker that would just NOT stay in the car and hungry students stealing teachers’ lunches. Debate Club was next and while it started off about the history of the Luau, it turned into a reminder of why there’s no forced volunteering. Then we played Serious Scene which turned out to be about dragging a dead mule to a dragon BBQ. Our last game of the night was Story, Story, Die which was a wonderful tale all about the mythical dog-monkey and his snail friend Bob which featured squirrel Coolattas, death by Beach Blanket Bingo, and cheese allergies that make you steal car keys.

JamesIt’s 9:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means time for BYOI! Tonight our cast was James, Amy, Josh, Ian, and Daniel, and because it was his last show with us, our Featured Audience Member was none other than our own James! He’s off to join the Peace Corps and travel to Moldova. (Yes, it’s a real place.) One thing he won’t miss about living here is the traffic. Our first game of the night was welcome song, where James had to sing in welcome to himself. This was followed by Follow that Action which featured such exciting actions as passing a slow American biker and eating a quarter. Alphabet was next, where we saw the “new” common core math and hairballs that came from the armpits of 27 cats.

Next up was Chainsaw, where a call center worker became an opera singer, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier became an Aztec temple, and a drill became a stapler. This was followed by Two-Headed Monster, which featured the statement “This is Texas – we don’t need insurance, we’ve got a gun.” Debate Club was next where the debate somehow evolved away from Highlander being awesome to the origins of the tradition that you must leap 40 times during leap year. Then we played Catch Phrase where one person could only say “Is this growth normal?” and “It wasn’t me” and the other could only say “Where am I?” and “Dammit”. Our last game of the night was Curtain Call.

I20150417_201339t’s 7:00 at the Warwick Museum of Art and that means time for BYOI’s family-friendly show! Tonight our cast was James, Amy, Josh, Ian, Daniel and David and our Featured Audience Member was Sufala! She’s a radiologist who likes to read and go on Viking cruises. Our first game of the night was Family Reunion where we learned that you can’t use your hands in soccer and that cruise ships would be better with sails. Next up was Action Figures where we saw broken karate and scary aliens on the ceiling. This was followed by Revolver where we saw Napoleon surrender to Abba, police ovens, and a mad pirate who only wanted to eat his own head.

Our newest Game-of-the-Month was next: Three Point Turn. In it, we saw a hired cat eat the Rescue Rangers and pay the bills. This was followed by Questions which featured a bass player (who had no idea what a bass actually was) playing in a jazz trio that played no jazz. Busta Rap was next where our cast – and volunteers! – had to rhyme such words as sleep, soccer, and dentist. Then we played Highlander… and he ate the spatula. Our last game of the night was Spelling Bee, where we witnessed such incredible feats of spelling as enthusiastic and photosynthesis.

IMAG4355For the second half of BYOI’s Friday night we had Daniel, Cyn, James, Amy, and Ian. The FAM was Christine, a cat- and Frozen-loving analyst with a desire to see Greece and couldn’t go anywhere without Diet Coke! FAM Remake started us off with the film of Christine, her boyfriend, and their stalker friend taking a trip to the Berkshires. We saw it replayed as a Spartan battle, the lost Harry Potter sequel, and a whimsical musical.

Cyn and James were Action Figures controlled by Kayleigh and Matt. They were so excited to start working at the Coca Cola factory until they realized the Coke was poisoned. But that is how you drink it in Atlanta! Amy brought to life the story of the flying manatee in Typewriter with Marissa. The manatee was trapped in pixie dust and learned you do need a shirt and shoes to go in restaurants. New Born was next with Amy and audience member Kayleigh guessing their identities of Napoleon and Big Ben with their lovely child, Pizza Dragon. In Pillars, we had Marissa and Ciara assisting Daniel and Ian in their septic tank hot tub where periodic tables are not allowed but you can fracture your liver.

Freeze tag was next with audience member Alan joining the cast in training for the worst cross country contest in the world. They also learned that five bananas are dangerous and it’s very hard to walk in a straight line when all your weight is on one side. Three Point Turn was next with Amy and Cyn choosing to ride cats and horses on the carousel which James and Ian interpreted as taking your cat to get cat pills and then getting fired like a rocket. Finally, Amy ran the cast through a Story Story Die on the outstanding sport of telepathy. We learned about Columbus and King Spanish, Jerry Lewis and his telethons, and Cyn finished the story telepathically!

IMAG4352We had a great night of BYOI comedy! Tonight we had Daniel, Cyn, James, Amy, and Ian at the Family Friendly show. The FAM was Charlotte and she was celebrating her birthday! Charlotte is in 7th grade and loves gym and red panda foxes. She’s a fan of Anne of Green Gables and hopes to see Paris for all of the amazing pointy buildings! For FAM Highlander, Amy, Ian, Cyn, and James played out Anne of Green Gables and the Miss Element pageant. James “won” and certainly breathed in a weird manner.

Charlotte and audience member Camella joined the cast for What Are You Doing where we saw instrument learning, zebra painting, and greening gables. Meanwhile was next which saw Daniel capturing a flying panda-gator in a box, mean parents living in the bamboo swamp of Paris, and the Sphinx refusing to eat sandals. Up next was the Dating Game with our contestant, Daniel choosing between Paul Revere, the Lincoln Memorial, and the pizza-eating lobster! In Catch Phrase, James attempted to host his birthday slumber party only to learn that Ian and FAM Charlotte would rather leave than play board games or have a pillow fight. Busta Rap was next with Daniel somehow getting three strikes before losing to Amy! The Game of the Month, Three Point Turn, followed where James and Ian grew giant Brussel sprouts and Amy and Cyn interpreted it as being a fun trip to the taxidermy office! Finally, the cast ended the show with an Irish Ditty about how Anne of Green Gables enjoys cooking and learning.

FAM2 040315We’re back for the second half of our Friday night at the Warwick Museum of Art. We again had James, Cyn, Alex L, Daniel, Josh and David on stage for the show. This time our FAM was Adrianna, who is a 7th grader and was celebrating her 13th birthday with us! Adrianna’s mom was brave enough to bring our FAM plus 4 friends out to the dinner and our show. Adrianna had very creative ways of describing each of her friends during her interview, which resulted in jokes all night. In FAM Pillar, the greatest hibachi in the world fried its menus and the “dammits” all left through the exit.

What Are You Doing started off the night, with our FAM and audience members Shayla and Trinity playing along. They made cat hair tacos, played the new Math With Friends app and scored goals by any means necessary. Two Headed Monster was up next with David and audience member Bebe as the monster. Cyn was their babysitter but was having trouble keeping them occupied because they were allergic to everything at the park. In Marriage Counselor, Josh had to help Daniel and Shayla. Daniel kept posing for pictures, Shayla was scared of her reflection and they both thought they were in the Matrix.

The cast then tried out a new came called Three Point Turn, which had wombats in Florida practicing baseball. Come see us next week to check out the game as we try it out again! Up next was Post It, with the cast as well as audience members Dominique and Carrie trying to make sense of pairings like potato peeler & birthday cake, fotune cookies & forest ranger and information architect & Adrianna’s house. It was a ton of fun! In Sit, Stand and Lie Down, Alex, David and Shayla were soooo tired of college and solving theories. Finally, the night ended with Adrianna in control of the bell in Sing It! The cast couldn’t run a three legged race with only 2 legs, so one of them had to go.

FAM1 040315Thanks for joining us for another night at the Warwick Museum of Art! Tonight we had David, Cyn, James, Alex L, Josh and Daniel at the family friendly show. The FAM was Emmy, who is one of our loyal regulars. Emmy is in the 6th grade, where she loves band and English. She’s the proud owner of two dogs and a bunny! For FAM Typewriter, Daniel and Emmy wrote about pirate bunnies who were stealing jewels from a ghost ship.

Emmy’s brother Beckett jumped on stage for Try That On For Size, where they picked up printers, squished bugs and deflected bullets “Matrix” style. Audience member Zach then played Lines From a Cup with the cast. Code monkey was crazy and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was angry. Up next was Chainsaw, with our FAM & Beckett joining in with audience member Matt. The game started off with an alligator wrestler at a volcano with a chocolate bunny, but by the time the cast finished the game, Pacman was at a fireworks display with a carrot. It was a fun progression to watch!

In Alphabet, the cast and Beckett did scenes about mixing caffeine with catnip and and a Xerox guy who wanted to take in wild animals. David was the child for Because I Said So, with Zach, Matt and Beckett once again playing with the cast. We learned about lots of things, like Pikachu scaring colors away and geography being difficult because people like the challenge. In the end, Beckett may have broken Daniel! Highlander had Josh, Alex and Daniel joined on stage by audience member Catie, as the Raven Boys went on a merry quest. Finally, the show ended with Busta Rap! Matt, Zack and Beckett were brave enough to join the line as the cast rapped about bands, France and Emmy! In the end, it came down to Matt and Cyn, with Cyn bring crowned as the rap master.

20150401_190904We were pleased to be back at the Izzy Room tonight bringing laughs to that wing of the hospital! Tonight our cast was David, Cyn, Josh and myself and our FAM Kylie who plays softball, would want to be the Disney villain Maleficent and loves Mac & Cheese! So we began with a game of Highlander where the cheese balls were soft, the electricity bill was not paid and there may or may not have been ice.

And so we were on our way with Alphabet where many accents were had and everyone had a name! Next up was Good Cop, Bad Cop where a 7 year old helped a little old lady across Interstate 95 near the plumbing supply store with Justin Bieber. Then in Sit, Stand & Lie Down, breakfast was not as good served on the floor. Say It Again brought us dear hunting with stop signs in Olnyville and Try That On for Size is easier to win when the room is helping you. Finally we sang our FAM out with a Do Run about Softball.

Lots of laughs and lots of fun tonight!
