BYOI – Whoa, Disney World!

Featured Audience Members, Show Recap No Comments »

FAM2 073115Welcome back to the second half of our Friday night at the Warwick Museum of Art with Amy, Josh, Daniel, Alan and Emily! Our FAM for this show was Jordan, who is currently studying marketing and works at a restaurant in Disney World. She used to have the terrifying job of helping people park there, but they were way too distracted by Disney. Jordan loves soccer, her dogs and cats, and her comical boyfriend Ishmael! For FAM Remake, the cast made up the great film, “Jordan 2: This Time It’s Personal” but it needed to be remade as a 50’s monster film, before being redone again as an 80’s high school movie, and ultimately a kung fu film!

Growing and Shrinking Machine had the cast and auidence member Cathy doing short scenes in Russia, training for “Monsters Inc” and dancing to attract cows! Lines From a Cup was fun with Daniel, Alan and audience member Tim on the beach with Sully from “Monsters Inc” answered the age old question of Why Pants? In Troubadours, Emily invented edible kilts for a wedding and while on a date with Alan, they witnessed the Lochness Monster eating a polar bear. In Good Cop, Bad Cop, Emily murdered a cowl (a cat owl) with a rubber chicken in a bakery with Big Bird! Thankfully our police officers Josh and a really fun audience member were able to drag a confession out of her.

Quick Scenes had the cast and Cathy doing fun shorts making fun of a certain purple dinosaur before going mini golfing! Follow That Action followed the Golden Ticket and everyone was tall, except for the surfer dude Oompa Loompas. The final game of the night was Spelling Bee, with the cast and some audience members, along with our own castmember David! They tried words like dog, crayon (defined as 64 colors that show your childhood), encyclopedia and philantropic. Gold stars for all!

BYOI – Shark Bunny Meets Mr. Sandman

FAM1 073115Thanks for joining us for our Family Friendly Show with Daniel, Amy, Josh, Alan and Emily at the Warwick Musuem of Art! The Blue Moon made for a great night to come out and see some improv! Our first FAM of the night was Alanna, who is going into the tenth grade soon! She loves chorus, which made our musically inclined cast members happy. She likes light, happy soprano voices. Alanna has been to our shows before and is a fan of “Twilight” and California. Her animal hybrid would be a shark bunny! In FAM Centerpiece, Alanna was SUPER brave and decided to play along in all 4 scenes. She had to help Josh collect money from Alan, while Daniel confessed his love of everyone.

Highlander had Alan, Daniel and Emily with audience member Carissa at school with a teacher who let everyone play with fruit and monkeys. Eventually Alan had to perform alone did a great job! Sit, Stand and Lie Down had Amy, Josh and Carissa at the pet store selling pink shark bunnies for three cents. We then moved on to Interrogation Lineup, with Daniel and audience member Peter witnessing the heinious crime of seeing someone throw cheese at a shark tank at a grocery store with Genghis Khan. Our FAM Alanna and audience member Amelia were part of the lineup with the cast.

Short Cutz introduced the Sandman to a tired student and her school administrators, and coffee grinds on toast was a genius idea! Busta Rap was next, with a pretty epic rap battle between Josh and Daniel, with Daniel winning. In Fortunately/Unfortunately, Emily and Daniel started telling story of “Twilight” with a twinge of “Wizard of Oz” and “Super Mario Bros.” The final game of the show was Story, Story, Die. We had a bunch of audience participation, with the cast joined by Peter, Carissa, little Pete and our FAM Alanna! They told the story of a doctor who taught nutrition and moved to California with its nature!

FAM2 072415Welcome back to the late night BYOI show at the Warwick Museum of Art! This time we had Ian, Alex, Amy, Candice, Josh and Emily! Please officially welcome Emily to the BYOI family! The show’s FAM was one of our regulars, Aliesia! She’s going into the 7th grade and is currently working on her summer reading. She wants to visit Jamaica and is a big fan of “The Vampire Diaries”…we probably shouldn’t combine vampires and a sunny area. Aliesia came to the show with her dad Peter and her friend Alanna. She said they’re annoying and loud, while they said she’s energetic and weird. In FAM Pillar, Alex’s friends thought he was a chair, and breakfast of eggs and socks was set to burnt in the oven.

In Action Figures, Candice and Alex were controlled by audience members Sue and Ari. Candice may have been painted like one of the French girls! Guidance Counselor was next, with Alex figuring out problems for his students. Candice was a mascot with fleas, Emily accidentally died and audience member Jordan had a hamster in his pocket. For Excuses, Excuses, Amy was late for work! Her coworkers Josh, Emily and audience member Shane helped her explain to her boss Ian that she overslept, her elf stole her car keys and her pet dinosaur broke down.

Six Pack had Alex and Shane, Amy and Emily and Ian and Jordan as our pairs. We learned the fable of the midwinter blood! Greatest Hits was hosted by Alex and audience member John, with the rest of the cast singing great songs about Van Helsing for us! Candice and Shane had waaaaaay too much coffee in Freeze Tag! The final game of the night was Story, Story Die, with our FAM Aliesia and her friend Alanna rounding out the storytellers. They told the story of a chameleon who couldn’t blend in. He somehow drove a lot before deciding to swim, using his tail as a propeller. He just wanted to blend in, especially after receiving a Purple Heart Medal! After Alex sacrificed himself to the story, Ian was eliminated, leaving Emily as the winner!

BYOI – I Think I Would Call It a Purm

FAM1 072415Thanks for joining us for a possibly electrifying family friendly BYOI at the Warwick Museum of Art! We had David, Candice, Josh, Amy, Ian and Alex for the show, with special appearances by our newest castmember, Emily! The family friendly show’s FAM was Shane, who will be starting high school in September. He also works at a summer basketball camp! He also enjoys lacrosse and kayaking–not at the same time, hopefully! Shane is looking forward to band class in school since he plays the euphonium. We found out toward the end of the interview that Shane is Canadian, which made our resident Candian Candice the happiest person ever. He made up the purm, which is apparently a pug-penguin-worm. All of this knowledge made for a fun FAM Welcome Song!

In Growing and Shrinking Machine, Ian tried to teach Braille, Alex needed to save the world from a Canadian speaking button, the velociraptor team was the best at arm wrestling and Amy was finally tall enough to go on a ride–except it closed down. Thanks to our two audience members for jumping in to play! Serious Scene had the cast joined by our FAM Shane and audience member Gabrielle. Marmalade came out of a tree instead of a can and Sarah Palin came to the rescue! Josh was the criminal in Good Cop, Bad Cop, so he had to be interrogated by Candice and audience member Jordan. They thankfully got him to admit to doing a back flip in a Russian prison with Gordon Lightfoot, after Alex did a good impression of our Door Czar!

Say It Again was next, with our FAM Shane and audience member Aliesia performing with Alex and Ian. Prom preparations were weird and not anything like “Avatar” and the game ended with strange dance moves. In Because I Said So, Josh was the inquistive child for parents that consisted of the cast and 3 brave audience members! We learned that Barbie dolls are blonde because and employee spilled the brown hair dye. Also, Alex had been on hiatus for sneezing in Target. Following that game was Follow That Action, with audience members Caden and Jordan. The fish were lazy and an octopus went on an adventure. The final game of the show was Spelling Bee, with the cast and audience members Peter, Jordan and FAM Shane trying to spell and define words like carrot, watermelon and regurgitate.

BYOI – Chocolate Makes It Better

imageWelcome back to another exciting Friday night here at BYOI! This week, our 6:00 pm youth show, had us interview our FAM Caeden. Caeden is going into the 5th grade where he loves math and thinks English class is hard. He loves to play soccer and base ball and would be a combination of a falcon and cheetah (chalcon) if he could. So cool! Our first game was FAM Highlander where we saw that Caeden really wanted to go to school but his mom wouldn’t let him because he had to feed his Chalcon Doritos. Emily was the lucky improver who got to play the entire scene by herself.

Next up was Freeze Tag where we saw scenes about putting books on shelves wrong, Human snow globes, and finding the Holy Grail! It wasn’t all fun and games though. In Good Cop, Bad Cop Ally was caught running down the halls of a museum with Betsy Ross. Back in My Day let us learn about people going outside before there was TV, people were always tired before there was coffee, and 5th grade didn’t exist before there was math! As the night progressed, we moved onto Revolver. Dylan and Rose had a scene about soccer where you needed 2 socks to play (That’s where they got the name!). Dylan and Emily roasted marshmallows that screamed over the fire, but don’t worry, chocolate made it better. Emily and Rose played the game Monopoly which is all about capitalism, but no worries because if you go to jail you don’t have to pay rent. Finally, we played Busta Rap. Our youth improvers rhymed words like dog, work, and soccer and Rose won! It was a fantastic night and we hope to see all of our audience members again and maybe some new ones!

It was Josh, Meredith, Emily and Myself this morning and we were joined by our FAM Jess who loves Minions, would love to be a time traveler and is shocked she is losing at Uno to one of the campers. We began with a game of Highlander where the Minions were on Strike until the Bananas were frozen!

Next up was a game of Pillars where the 1800’s were full of silent parties and yellow walls! Timmy in the Well found that Taylor Swift was throwing wood chips in an arcade and Trolley Stop brought us lots of kicking legs and texting. We had a Two Headed Monster where there was just Uno card… until we ripped it up and played Yahtzee. Next in Action Figures a truce in Dodge Ball was quickly ended with a pie to the face and we finished with Curtain Call where I needed a lot less candy!

20150720_191606Tonight BYOI has a special show at the Summer SPARK Camp at Brown University! It was Josh, David, Amy, Alan and I and our FAM Spencer… and Spencer? That’s right, two FAM’s tonight for the price of one! Spencer(s) like both American and Traditional Football, The movie Ted 2 and 22 Jump St and taking a trip bowling. So our FAM game was Highlander where one of the Spencer(s) was the last one left having to do the entire bowling alley scene by themselves!

So we move on to Pillars where the liege needs wants to be paid in gold bricks to rule the town of silence and where you can have twice the meaning to life the universe and everything. Then in Timmy in the Well, Elvis was on fire at the White House which Josh knocked out fairly quickly. We moved on to Trolley Stop with rapping counselors and then Two Headed Monster where the ugly twin needed a date to the prom. We then had Action Figures where the garbage was never going to go out and finished it up with Curtain Call where CVS was a mess!

This was followed by Excuses, Excuses, where Alan was late to work because he was on a walkabout, went to a child’s birthday party, and a koala ate his alarm clock. Revolver was next, which featured scenes about Washington D.C., raccoons, a communications consultant, and Rhode Island. Then we played Back In My Day, where we didn’t have such things as bikes, Italy, Barbie, and iPhones. Next up was Freeze Tag, which started off being about running, went through the worst selfie ever, and ended up being about disco night at the senior center. Our last game of the night was Story, Story, Die, which told the story about how the kangacoon (half kangaroo, half raccoon) came to be.
