imageWelcome back to our Halloween themed BYOI show at the Warwick Center For the Arts! We once again had David, Candice, Erich, Daniel, Ally and Josh on stage! Our late night show’s FAM was Amy! She works at a day care and as a CNA, so I’m not sure how she’s awake. She came to the show with her husband, Joe. They like hiking and exploring outdoors. FAM Day In the Life had Amy frolicking through cobwebs and turning into a baby.

Quickest Horror Movie Minute had Erich, David and Ally acting out speedy versions of “Carrie” with lots of blood and death. Two Headed Monster had the monster getting a much needed pedicure from Daniel. Up next was Chainsaw, with a janitor in New York with an Academy Award. NOT a housekeeper in a gang fight or on the set of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey” with hair.

Helping Hands had Josh and Daniel working on Californian vegans, complete with cauliflower craft brews. In World’s Worst, with the worst mountain bikes, pizza, day care and hair dressers. Horror Movie Lines From a Cup had a Disney-fied “Moby Dick” with Candice and Ally! Complete with a removable head and a Royale with cheese! Sing It! had Amy starting off right away with the bell with songs about a rough patch in a relationship that had a happier ending.

imageHalloween is spooky, so we had a great time playing at the Warwick Center For the Arts! They’ll be doing a Ghost Tour here over the weekend, so come check it out! Tonight we had Ally, Josh, Candice, Erich, Daniel and David entertaining everyone. Our FAM was Ellen, who teaches yoga! She likes riding her bike and hanging out with her friends. She likes spiritual books, making the cast try to spell hard words and came to the show with her partner, Michael. In FAM Day In the Life, Ellen’s wise dog was a poet and Halloweeny cakes were being baked.

The Quickest Monster Movie Minute was a blast with Candice, Josh and audience member Trinity going through “Godzilla” a few times. Two Headed Monster had Erich and audience member Paul as the monster who was shoe shopping with Ally. Chainsaw had a veterinarian at the Grand Canyon with a pillow! The cast played with audience members Carolyn, Karen and Catie, and they thought they were dentists or EMTs at an opera house with a cat.

Helping Hands had Daniel and David trying to get ready for yoga, except one of them only had one hand. This was followed by Back In My Day, where they didn’t have witches, sphinxes or Alaska. Freeze Tag brought Candice and Josh to the best curling game ever, mystery soup could have been rat poison, and hot watches were up for grabs. The final game of the show was Sing It! Ellen had fun with the bell, making everyone sing while they made salt taffy.

imageHere we are at the Halloween Youth Collective Show with Gabriella, Gabby, Emmy, Shane and Rachel and our FAM Craig. Craig describes his family as lovely and annoying and wants to fly in a Delorian. In our first game FAM Reunion Craig hates to bring his kids home and feed them.

In What Are You Doing we had a index finger war. In Marriage Councellor Shane and Emmy are allergic to bow ties, collects fezs and their car is made out of Legos.  Firefighters didn’t start the fire in Slogans. Questions found our cast imitating owls, discovering hockey, and sleeping on rocks. And finally the cast sung about Delorians in Irish Ditty!

20161023_121730It was a dark and stormy night at The Warwick Center for the Arts for our Late Night Show! On cast were Candace, Ian, Daniel, Barbara, Josh and Amy. Our FAM was Peter, who works in the restaurant industry. He was here with his friend Ed, who bowls, Ed’s fun wife Laurie and Peter’s own amazing wife Elena. He likes to bowl and go to Yankee games, but he spends more time working and hanging out with his kids. If he could travel anywhere in the world he would go to Australia. We started the show with FAM Reunion, where the cast played Peter’s friends and family who took over his job for him so he could go bowling. Next, we played Try That on for Size, where our cast and volunteers played hockey, danced like emus, made bubble wrap, and sang in the rain. For Say it Again, we played jacks with Amy the giant who made phone calls on footwear but had trouble getting the shoe on the right foot.

Next up was Chainsaw, where a mortician in a volcano with a toilet became a pizza chef on Mt Everest with a typewriter. In Lines from a Cup, the actors went golfing. There was much pudding, many spiders, and a food fight. All was well when we remembered to moisturize, except we needed a bigger boat. World’s Worst featured terrible astronomers who thought they were astrologers, oven mitt duel challenges , restaurants for chicken wings, and clueless tour guides. Our audience cracked up during Freeze Tag, because Shakespeare was inspired, we degloved a hand and witnessed the miracle of life. We wrapped up the show with Sing It! We rejoined Peter at work, went for a car ride back to the future, and ended up in 1776.

20161021_202737It’s 7pm on a Friday evening, and we had a blast at the Warwick Center for the Arts with an audience who truly volunteered a bunch! On cast were Candice, Daniel, Amy, Ian, Josh and Barbara. Our FAM was Penny, who teaches Kinesiology at URI and came to BYOI tonight with the Greenwich Bay Women’s Club. She has a teenage daughter and a grown son who is a Doctor. She has two cats named Aunt Pitty Patt and Ella. On warm weekends, Penny likes to go boating. Our first game was FAM Reunion. Our cast played Penny and her family on a boating excursion. Their boat ran aground, but her daughter saved the day despite an unwanted visitor.

In What are You Doing, volunteers and cast were participating in a plethora of activities including tying balloon animals, washing dogs, and inventing new sports. We followed that with Questions, where we found Santa’s “Workshop”, mounted an expedition to the South Pole, and did some heavy lifting. Next up was Marriage Counselor. Amy had to guess that Daniel collected too many typewriters, Josh was allergic to air and they both lived in an Avocado, which they hated. We played Catch Phrase after that, where we a trip to an amusement park with two challenging children. During Slogans, we learned that Hawaii hasn’t sunk yet, Grand Canyon was bigger than Mini Canyon, and Meteorologists aren’t always accurate. Quickest minute featured Mr. Holland’s Opus, in which random historical references interrupted the ability to discover the magic of music. Our final game of the 7pm show was Irish Ditty. The cast sang a rousing ode to Aunt Pitty Patt the Kitty Cat and our FAM Penny.

20161021_202621We had a great show with our Youth Collective at the Warwick Center for the Arts on this rainy Friday evening! On cast were Shane, Emmy, Gabby, Rachael, Rose and Gabriella. Our FAM was Beckett, who likes Dr. Who and would like to visit any time in history but the revolutionary war. He has played Venture on Atari and if he was in the jungle with a gorilla he would hug it. If he had one piece of paper he would make an Origami Glados, and if he had virtual reality that was real reality he would spend time in the world of Portal. We kicked things off this evening with FAM Movie Critics, where the cake was not just a lie, the cupcakes were an inadequate substitute, and the chef was certain that the dirt could be passed off as chocolate. We followed that up with Try That on for Size, during which rashes were dangerous, donuts let us see the future, flags were hoisted, and Emmy played Rock, Paper Scissors all alone.

During Madam Zelda, Gabby had to guess that Daniel tripped on stage, was knocked out by his mom, and was hit by a meteor while riding a giraffe. Rope included motorcycle rides, annoying drums, and pieces of the falling sky. The game of Alphabet featured problems with video game addiction that weren’t solved my money, Shane had enough attitude, and Rose tried to shut down the internet. Our Youth Collective Show wrapped up with Highlander with Gorillas in Gallifrey with no Dr. Who references.

20161015_112649It’s a Saturday afternoon and BYOI is hanging out at the Rhode Island Theater Conference again this year at the St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket. We have Josh, Meredith, Barbara and Myself and our FAM Eve! Eve is reading Don Carlos, live eating ice cream and bothering her little sister. So we start off with Remake where Evie can’t turn pages fast enough in space and where mocking her sister hits a high note.

Next up in Pillars, the Gym teacher is going to have to climb the rope this time. In Good Cop, Bad Cop, Meredith got the lead role at the dump with Kanya West. Guidence Counselor gave us ripped pants, a licked cup cake and a teacher having some dangerous flash backs. Finally in Debate Club we learned the Courtney may have been the Kardashian that broke the internet. Thanks for having us!

20161015_162540It’s another exciting Friday Evening at the Warwick Center for the Arts, where we had a fantastic Late Night Show! On cast were Jonathan, Erich, Meredith, Ally, Daniel and Ian. Our FAM was Michaela, who is going to school to be a sign language interpreter. She is a black belt in martial arts, and her boyfriend John doesn’t like Haunted Houses. Her celebrity crush is William Shatner, and she enjoys sugar cookies. We started off the night’s festivities with FAM typewriter. We told the story of the time when Michaela, Johnathan and Jake went on a picnic, and to the IdoNaw cabin. They played blackjack with Shatner, and went to the new lounge with just one single book in it. and Jake’s memory was erased. Our second game was Trolley Stop, with man eating squirrels, wicked witches, and cookie monster. Pokemon black market dealers baked lasagna and the town martial made an impression with the art. Next, we played Revolver with Haunted Houses, Easter, cloud clowns and Bears on a picnic.

During Timmy in the Well, we learned that Marilyn Monroe knocked over a display in North Korea. We followed that with Guidance Counselor. Daniel forgot to charge his tablet and also had a wardrobe malfunction. One teacher was in dismay about baggy pants, and another had a far more personal problem. Next up was Story, Story, Die. We told a story about sign language, in which a priest was helpful, the stores had interesting displays, and the Pilgrims were proud. The law enforcement officer had ice cream cake, the coffee was stirred, and the spoons were sanitary. In Fortunately/Unfortunately, the geeks were practicing for baseball, rebels took over the school, and the judge had poor judgement. We ended the show with Say it Again! That was such an interesting noise!

20161014_201107It’s 7pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts, time for our Family Friendly Show! Our cast was Jonathan, Daniel, Meredith, Ally, Erich and Ian. Our FAM was Mark, who is a self described professional nerd who develops software and likes the game Portal, even if he never gets time to play it. He loves his sandalwood scented shaving kit, chicken enchiladas, and once rode through London with an irresponsible driver while watching helicopters and trying on helmets in tanks. Mark joined us for a show-opening game of  FAM Movie Critics, where we reenacted Mark’s London trip, visited Denmark while reciting from Hamlet, and had Electric Belgian Waffles that were actually cheesecake with Nikolai Tesla in Russia. Try That on for Size was our next game. We roped a pig, played jacks and whack-a-mole, brushed our hair, tried on new socks, and hid from the daylight while mailing letters with our opposable thumbs. We followed that up with Pillars, during which Greek Clogs weren’t as good as cans for footwear. 7-11 sold everything, including bats, so Erich lived there with his lovely puce paint.

During Madam Zelda, Ian had to predict that Meredith would eat too much, three puppies would come through her sunroof while driving, and would be abducted by dinosaurs in a decade. Next was Alphabet, where there was nice gnocchi, vicious ants, precious old ladies on the sidewalk, and a magical Christmas surprise. Rope was full of crazy antics with our cast and volunteers! Highlander involved crazy hair growth, shaving kits, jumprope, and Sister Beatrice who allows no fun. Our final game was Curtain Call, and we sang a song all about our FAM Mark.

20161014_185024 (1)It’s 6pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts, time for our Youth Collective Show! On cast we had Gabriella, Gabriella, Gabby, Rachel, Shane, Emmy and Ethan. Our FAM was Julie, who is a respiratory therapist who works at a rock climbing gym but doesn’t rock climb. If she was going to save the world, she would bring a battle-ax. We kicked off the evening with FAM Growing and Shrinking Machine. The rock wall needed more rocks, we couldn’t hear Shane now, Rachel wasn’t tall enough for Chocolate Mousse, the crochet needle was gigantic, and the duck was confused about the chicken dance. In Trolly Stop, our youth became excited about Star Wars, discussed taxidermy like gentlemen, tried on some accents, and were connected with the auras of nature.

Interrogation Lineup was next, in which  Meredith got Johnny Depp to confess that they had a pillowfight with R2D2. Following that was Quick Scenes. Our youth collective members had something to chalk about, including who had the TV remote. They rode a rollercoaster, studied a bunch, and got themselves together. In Two Headed Monster, the gymnastics routine was being choreographed, the monster stood on two feet, and thumbs were expertly twiddled. Our final game was Debate Club, where we argued the merits of Battle Axes, the anatomy of the heart, sharp and dull objects, why art made everyone sad, goldfish and the existence of beanbags.
