BYOI – Confident Cliff Diving Thoughts

Featured Audience Members, Private Show, Show Recap No Comments »

It’s a Saturday morning at CCRI in Providence and BYOI is here at the College Crusades again. This time it is Candice, Emily and Myself as well as our FAM Jose! Jose loves playing ball, wants to own a gerbil with wings and has a clear picture of his career. We begin with FAM Pillar where cliff diving may take more thought than originally thought.

Next was What Are You Doing where Polar Bears do not like Coke as much as we thought. In Two-Headed Monster making our beds gave us frightening thoughts and in Action Figures, you could feel the “burn, brah!” Finally, in Spelling Bee we learned that “The” is a letter.

Thanks for having us again College Crusaders!

Our late night show at the Warwick Center for the Arts featured Daniel, Erich, Ally, Emily, Josh and Barbara. Our FAM was Christian, who goes to LaSalle and works summers in an auto body shop. He wants to work in computer science or engineering someday and plays volleyball. He would like to own a large boat and sail to the beach in Jamaica.

We kicked off the show with FAM Say It Again. Daniel traveled to Jamaica for a new adventure with CVS and the Indian Bobsled Team. Follow that Action brought us to a hospital where Daniel’s mixtape was lost, the gramophone wound down, we had 7 days with the videotape, and it was all our fault. Sing It had us on a boat with Josh and audience member Jim. Good Cop/Bad Cop featured Barbara guessing that she was smoking toilet paper in the bathroom of the Louvre with Brad Pitt. In Pillars, COBRA Commander sent squid toes to fight against golden-haired G.I. Joe, who had no guacamole. Debate Club brought us to the Friend Zone, where we carry each other through. Helping Hands was a scooter race of fun!!! We wrapped up the show with a Do-Run for our FAM Christian!

We had a fantastic Family Friendly Friday show tonight at the Warwick Center for the Arts! On cast, we had Barbara, Josh, Ally, Emily, Erich and Daniel. Our FAM was Gunther, who teaches accounting at Johnson and Wales. If he had all the money in the world he would buy a wig. He’s here with his wife Bonnie, who is his best friend and makes him laugh (awwwwww). We started the evening out with a game of FAM Remake. There was a decoder ring in the Cracker Jacks, the sunscreen was a prize, and the life preserver preserved the relationship.

Freeze Tag featured photojournalism, Batman’s ejector seat, knee toupees, and a giant gerbil. During Revolver, Barbara wasn’t happy with her dog, she had GIANT feet, and our audience member thought he was hot stuff. Press Conference had Daniel having to guess he was Elon Musk and he invented an edible dinosaur. Alphabet followed that, with nose picking in the Poconos, sledding, a tennis tournament and backward shoe-tying.

Quick Scenes was rife with Pop Tarts and Ramen, and properly cleaning the cat box was common. The mailman brought us a package or two, and Lucky Charms had surprises for YOU! Sports Commentator brought us the Dinosaur Baking Olympics, with plastic dinosaurs and helium surprises. The last game of the 7pm show was an Irish Ditty for our FAM Gunther!

It’s 6pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts and our Youth Collective members are putting their new skills to use! On cast we had Ethan, Emmy, Gabriella, Rose, Maddie and Aidan, and our FAM was Toni, who would be caramel swirl if she was ice cream, loves cheeseburgers and loves the color red because it goes with her eyes.

In FAM pillar, we neglected the cheeseburger production, couldn’t do push-ups and licked telephone poles. That was followed with Fortunately/Unfortunately. Vegan marathon runners were exhausted and ate cheeseburgers accidentally. They were late for work but they had permanent disguises and they knew a guy.

Pavlovian Response required our students to guess that Rose had to jump when someone said “right”, Gabby had to squawk if someone snapped, and Maddie had to act like a chicken when anyone said, “and”. A game of “Because I said So” turned the tables on the kids, and they learned they don’t have all the answers, so we followed that with Questions. We wrapped the show up with Highlander. Jeremy liked strawberry but the other Jeremy was allergic. The ice cream was swirled, shared, stolen and swapped.

Welcome back to a night of Four Old Guys and An Emily, also known as our late night show with Jonathan, David, Ian, Daniel and Emily. Our FAM was Drew! He’s a director of digital media for the athletics department at a local college. He likes watching movies and car racing, and came to the show with his girlfriend, Shay. After this inspriation, the cast played a fun FAM Remake where Drew found an old steering wheel as a chew toy and tried using old car parts on the car and house. The first improvement made it suspense, while the second improvement made it a spy thriller.

Action Figures had Ian and Jonathan working on fixing up a car with the help of two audience members. It had such a happy steering wheel! Short Cutz had thespians in Dubai and a pizza place with a Myspace page and delivery camels. This was followed by Jonathan being late for work in Excuses Excuses! His girlfriend took too long to get ready, then he needed to hide the bodies, and finally, Fraggle Rock cracked.

Movie Critics had David and an audience member talking about the 18th or 27th “Mission: Impossible” film. It had a foldable collapsible couch in an elevator, a mute partner and an impostor! Busta Rap was fun with Ian winning, per usual. Up next was Growing & Shrinking Machine, with old school tv, a fun wedding tango with flowers and doves, and a crazy construction scene. The night ended with Debate Club, with how to get into the mind of a dead body, spiked Legos, what the best bad habit is.

It was a rainy night in Warwick, so we were thankful to have a family friendly show at the Warwick Museum of Art! Tonight we had Daniel, Ian, David, Emily and Jonathan on stage. Or as the cast called it, Four Old Guys and An Emily. Our FAM of the night was Lara! She’s a chef and she loves reading sci-fi. She’d like to visit Vietnam someday to try the cuisine. She described some awesome dishes and made us all envious of David. FAM Pillar had the cast getting ready for a wedding but ants were all over the garage! The staff dropped all of the food on the ground, but it smeared all over the floor and we found a great soup recipe. The bad Yelp review said the venue was Kool-Aid!

First up was Fortunately/Unfortunately, with Daniel and audience member Paul telling the story of a lion tamer who carried antacids and wrote better stories than a mediocre author. Questions had an incompetent teacher, a girl named Numbers, and a child born during a leap year. Pavlovian Response had shards of glass at the art school, and the gets  included artsy movements and doing math. The school may have been saved by Daniel, Emily and audience member Carolyn.

Up next was Typewriter! A Yelper visited a restaurant that competed with Mr. Rogers. Thankfully there were no ulterior motives for Basil the chicken. In the end, Basil wasn’t able to save Emily, but he ended up inheriting a town to govern. Post It had crazy combinations for short scenes! Some highlights were envelope+Hope Diamond, Bavarian castle+Hawaii, vase+Las Vegas, and Fairytopia+collar. Sit, Stand and Lie Down had Ian, Jonathan and Emily at the cantina. So much being startled! The final game was Highlander! Ian, David, Jonathan and Emily played a scene on a farm where the chicken had his cabinet meeting. It came down to Emily and Jonathan, but Emily ended up “winning” the game.

Our late night show at the Warwick Museum of Art featured Ally, Daniel, Josh, Emily, Erich, Barbara and our FAM Sam, a Grad Student at Brown who is studying Dead Things in Mediterranean History and would prefer to dig in Malta because it is safer. He really wanted more blocks when he was a kid in Minnesota, and needs a pet triceratops. FAM Pillars featured fossilized squishy Turtle Pie and Jimmy Buffet holding his hat. Camels wanted marmalade but teeth splintered and dental was covered by Russia. We played What are You Doing next, where we filmed the live action Great Mouse Detective with a five dollar budget, ate porcupine pie, and shucked corn. Say it Again involved bears and signposts and kangaroos, oh my! Daniel was selling a flustered one dollar bill, the flying spaghetti monster, and a spoon that tasted like pecan pie.

Lines from a Cup took place at the wedding of Emily and our audience volunteer. The ring was shiny, Erich lived in a box, the goats were photogenic and the bunny had a drink. No Bueno! The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly featured Kerri and two audience volunteers. They gave advice about snoring, talkative partners, self-defense and the five-second rule. We ended the night with our FAM conduction the cast in Sing It!

It’s 7pm on this fine Friday evening, time for our Family-friendly show at the Warwick Center for the Arts! On cast were Daniel, Erich, Josh, Emily, Ally and Barbara. Our FAM was Amanda, who is a Social Worker. If she could bring her clients on a field trip to restore their relationships she would bring them to Hawaii. If she could have only one food, it would be pizza with onions and peppers but not pineapples. She’s here with her partner, Bill, and her stepson Neil.

We started with a game of FAM Reunion, Amanda’s family went to Hawaii where Bill confronted the work bully, had some non-pineapple pizza and watched out for seagulls. Follow that Action took us to Disney, where workers were fixing the Small World ride, a puppet came to life and ended up in a gift shop with a whiny child, the custodian mopped the kid’s face, and Mickey had some bad habits that helped cook Easter Dinner. Next up was Movie Critics, where we reviewed our new favorite film, Sociality, a sci-fi film about social worker aliens restoring humanity to man. Party Quirks challenged Erich to guess that his guests were Daniel, who was looking to play a video game about Teddy Bears, Alex, who was a Hawaiian pizza, and our audience volunteer who was a mean cat. Two-Headed monster had a broken camera, a phone peace-offering and a very hungry monster. Erich hosted a rousing round of Because I Said So, featuring his actual parents answering what the moon is made of. Serious Scene was about nobody but us chickens, and we ended the game by singing a DoRun about our FAM Amanda!

It’s time for our Youth Collective Show at the Warwick Center for the Arts, with Emmy, Rowan, Ethan, Aidan and our FAM Barbara, who likes acoustic ukelele alternative music and drawing flowers. She has a ginger Guinea Pig named Squeakers. Her favorite film is The Producers.

We kicked off the show with a game of Typewriter, where we discussed the writing and producing of the 1960’s Batman TV show. Quickest Minute featured the television series Gotham, with young Master Bruce mourning the death of his parents. In Newborn, our youth collective members had to guess that Rowan was the Eiffel Tower, Emmy was a kitty litter scoop and their child was Brad Pitt. We then learned that Back In My Day, we didn’t have cats or trash men, batman or music. We also didn’t have Grandpa. Our game of Meanwhile featured Elmer Fudd hunting wabbits, attending a “Hunter-Animal Alliance” meeting, rabbits in Alaska, dance class and carrot-dealing rabbits in a car chase.

We ended the show with a Debate Club about squeakers the Guinea Pig, the virtues of annoyance, and comfy chairs.

What??? Two BYOI shows on a Saturday! That is right! This afternoon BYOI also traveled over to the East Greenwich Free Library where Candice, Amy, Barbara and Myself performed at a public event. Our FAM Karen loves non-fiction books about toast and to have a dog mixed with another dog to have a double dog. So first up in Sing It, we learned about the “Wonder” of toast.

Then we moved on to Pillars where cat camp was all about the scratches and bites. In Trolley Stop we had apes and silent readers and in Good Cop/Bad Cop, Amy stole from the pickle jar at the post office with Kim Kardashian.  Next up in Two-Headed Monster, the books were overdue and it was all Bills fault. Two Action Figures had trouble corraling their dog and Candice got stuck serving a bridezilla all by herself in Highlander! Such a fun show!
